Anyone interested in such impossible experiments will probably want to see The Dark Knight (if you haven't yet, which is increasingly unlikely). The Joker argues for a Freudian thesis that civilization thinly disguises the inner brutality and selfishness of normal people. He runs an experiment at the end of the movie to prove his point. I won't spoil the details, but personally, I would have expected the experiment to turn out differently.
