Search the Garden

Jorge Luis Borges

  • "Under the trees of England I meditated on this lost and perhaps mythical labyrinth. I imagined it untouched and perfect on the secret summit of some mountain; I imagined it drowned under rice paddies or beneath the sea; I imagined it infinite, made not only of eight-sided pavilions and of twisting paths but also of rivers, provinces and kingdoms. I thought of a maze of mazes, of a sinuous, ever growing maze which would take in both past and future and would somehow involve the stars."

A Thanksgiving Treat

Be excited.  Be very excited.

The Garden of Forking Paths has acquired (thanks to James Gibson and Mark Smeltzer) audio recordings of the presentations (including commentary and Q & A) from the Wheaton College Conference on Divine and Human Freedom held October 28-30 this year.  Over the next couple of weeks, we will be posting these as mp3 files here in the Garden for your enjoyment.  Consider it a virtual conference (with no time for you to ask questions of the speakers, of course).

Since each file is rather large, we will only be able to post a couple at a time.  So, get them while they last!

As a preview before the long Thanksgiving weekend, here is the recording of John Martin Fischer's presentation (including commentary and Q & A):

Keep in mind that you will probably want to download these files only if either you are willing to wait approximately a year for it to download via dial-up or if you have access to a high-speed connection. We'll post the rest starting after Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Most of the praise should go to Mark Smeltzer. I'm just the messenger. He did all the hard work.

Okay -- I meant to ask you who it was that helped out. I'll change the main post so that it has Mark's name in there too.

:)

By the way, if anyone has access to an FTP site with 280 megs of free space and would like to host the whole batch, please send me an email.
